The Palo Alto Networks Certified SD-WAN Engineer certification is designed for experienced network and SD-WAN engineers who want to validate their skills in deploying and managing Prisma SD-WAN environments.
It covers the full engineering lifecycle, from pre-deployment planning and policy design through deployment configuration, operations, and troubleshooting. Candidates also learn how to use analytics to monitor network performance and drive network transformation outcomes.
This certification is particularly relevant for SD-WAN engineers, SASE engineers, and network engineers responsible for designing and operating Prisma SD-WAN infrastructure in enterprise environments.
There are no formal prerequisites for this certification.
Candidates should have a working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network infrastructure design. Familiarity with SASE architectures, security models such as Zero Trust, and engineering-level knowledge of Prisma SD-WAN is expected.
Basic scripting knowledge in languages such as Python or PowerShell is also beneficial when preparing for this exam.

The SD-WAN Engineer certification focuses on the technical skills required to plan, deploy, and manage Prisma SD-WAN in enterprise environments.
Candidates learn how to assess existing network architectures, select appropriate devices and licensing options, and design policies covering path selection, security, QoS, and NAT. The certification also covers deployment configuration in detail, including site-specific settings, configuration templates, routing protocol tuning, and VRF implementation for network segmentation.
Operations and monitoring are another important focus area. Candidates explore how to monitor device statistics, manage alerts, configure real-time visibility tools, and work with WAN Clarity reports to maintain network health.
The certification also covers Unified SASE integration, including how Prisma SD-WAN connects with Prisma Access, Cloud Identity Engine, and ADEM for application performance monitoring. Troubleshooting skills are also developed, covering connectivity issues, routing problems, application performance analysis, and the use of co-pilot analytics to optimize network configurations.
