Configuration Management Database Fundamentals is a three-day instructor-led course designed for ServiceNow administrators, implementers, and architects who need to implement and manage a healthy CMDB.
The course mirrors the content of the CMDB Fundamentals on-demand course on ServiceNow University and brings it to life through instructor-led lectures, demonstrations, collaborative discussions, and hands-on lab exercises. Participants work in their own student instance alongside a dedicated Windows Server acting as a MID Server, giving them direct experience with Discovery and Service Mapping. Participants also work through simulator instances to complete objective-based tasks and earn CMDB micro-certifications in Configuration and Health.
Note: This course does not include a course guidebook. All content is available through the CMDB Fundamentals on-demand course. Lab exercise files and a copy of the instructor slide deck are provided.

Upon completing this course, learners are eligible to earn two CMDB micro-certifications: CMDB Configuration and CMDB Health. These are assessed through objective-based simulator tasks completed during the course. Exam registration and scheduling are handled through the Pearson VUE platform.
#1. What experience do I need before taking this course?
Learners should have completed Welcome to ServiceNow and ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals. Working knowledge of the ServiceNow platform and a basic understanding of the CMDB are recommended. The Certified System Administrator credential is preferred but not required.
#2. Is a course guidebook provided?
No. This course does not include a traditional course guidebook. All content is available through the CMDB Fundamentals on-demand course on ServiceNow University. Participants do receive lab exercise files and a copy of the instructor slide deck.
#3. Will I get hands-on practice during the course?
Yes. The course includes step-by-step lab exercises in a personal student instance, access to a Windows Server acting as a MID Server for Discovery and Service Mapping practice, and simulator instances to complete objective-based tasks.
#4. Does this course lead to a certification?
Yes. Participants have the opportunity to earn two CMDB micro-certifications, CMDB Configuration and CMDB Health, through the adaptive simulator tasks completed during the course. Registration is handled through the Pearson VUE platform.
