Discovery Fundamentals is a three-day instructor-led course designed for ServiceNow administrators and consultants who need to implement and administer ServiceNow Discovery.
The course covers the full Discovery solution, from MID Server configuration and credential management to horizontal and application discovery patterns. Through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on labs, participants work in their own student instance to configure Discovery, capture configuration items, map relationships and dependencies in the CMDB, and troubleshoot common issues.
Note: The instructor-led version of this course includes hands-on labs. The on-demand version does not.

#1. What experience do I need before taking this course?
Learners are recommended to have completed ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals or have equivalent platform experience. Knowledge of network protocols and terminology is also recommended. Completing CMDB Fundamentals and Scripting in ServiceNow before attending is highly recommended.
#2. Does the on-demand version of this course include labs?
No. Hands-on labs are only available in the instructor-led version of this course. The on-demand version does not include lab exercises.
#3. Will I get hands-on practice during the course?
Yes. Extensive hands-on lab exercises are included in every module, and participants work in their own student instance loaded with demonstration data throughout all three days.
#4. Does this course lead to a certification?
Yes. Upon completing the course, learners receive a voucher to take the Certified Implementation Specialist – Discovery exam. The voucher may require payment. Full details are available in the Certification FAQ on ServiceNow University.
