Hardware Asset Management Fundamentals is a three-day instructor-led course designed for professionals who implement and administer hardware assets on the ServiceNow platform.
The course introduces both the ServiceNow ITSM Asset Management and Hardware Asset Management applications, with a focus on building an effective HAM practice. Through a mix of lectures, group discussions, and hands-on labs, participants work in their own student instance to manage hardware assets and consumables across their full lifecycle. On the final day, learners access a simulation instance that remains available for two weeks, providing additional hands-on practice in an environment close to real-world conditions.
Learners who have not completed System Administration or Platform Fundamentals should have equivalent platform familiarity. ServiceNow Foundations may help learners build basic navigation knowledge.

This course prepares learners for the Certified Implementation Specialist – Hardware Asset Management (CIS-HAM) exam. Successful candidates will be awarded the ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – HAM certificate.
#1. Does this course cover Software Asset Management?
No. Software Asset Management is not included in this course. It is covered in a separate three-day course on the ServiceNow platform.
#2. What experience do I need before taking this course?
Learners are recommended to have completed Welcome to ServiceNow and ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals, or have equivalent hands-on experience with the platform. Basic familiarity with ServiceNow navigation and IT asset management terminology is also recommended.
#3. Will I get hands-on practice during the course?
Yes. The course includes extensive hands-on labs in a personal student instance throughout all three days. On the final day, learners also receive access to a simulation instance designed to replicate real-world conditions, which remains available for two weeks after the course ends.
#4. Does this course lead to a certification?
Yes. This course supports preparation for the Certified Implementation Specialist – Hardware Asset Management (CIS-HAM) exam. Exam registration details are provided at the end of the course.
