Overview

Platform Analytics Advanced is a two-day instructor-led course designed for Platform Analytics Administrators and Power Users who are ready to go beyond the fundamentals.

Building directly on the Platform Analytics Fundamentals course, this course covers advanced techniques for measuring process performance and creating impactful visualizations. Through a mix of lectures and hands-on labs, participants work in their own dedicated training instance to configure bucket groups, scripted breakdowns, advanced data sources, Spotlight, metric-based indicators, index indicators, and advanced dashboard filtering.

Prerequisites
  • Welcome to ServiceNow
  • ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals or equivalent
  • Platform Analytics Overview (free, self-paced on-demand course)
  • Platform Analytics Fundamentals or equivalent


Learners who have not been actively practicing the concepts from Platform Analytics Fundamentals should complete the free Platform Analytics Fundamentals Review on-demand course before attending this class.

Note: Advanced ServiceNow experience is not required, but some platform familiarity is expected.

Target Audience

This course is designed for Platform Analytics Administrators who already administer and create content for the Platform Analytics Administration application. Learners should also have some experience with ServiceNow, although advanced ServiceNow experience is not required. 

Key Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand the Platform Analytics Adoption Journey and its three pillars
  • Build bucket groups to categorize breakdown values and configure scripted breakdown mappings
  • Restrict breakdown element visibility using Allow List and Deny List
  • Use various types of data sources to build data visualizations in Platform Analytics
  • Use Spotlight to identify high-priority work and configure Spotlight for service monitoring
  • Leverage metrics for metric-based automated indicators
  • Configure index indicators and external indicators
  • Create single, multiple, and cascading filters using data sources and apply them to visualizations
  • Build advanced dashboards using the In-Line Editor in Platform Analytics

Yes. This course builds directly on the knowledge from Platform Analytics Fundamentals. Learners who have completed the Fundamentals course but have not been actively practicing those concepts should also complete the free Platform Analytics Fundamentals Review on-demand course before attending.

#3. Will I get hands-on practice during the course? 

Yes. Extensive hands-on lab exercises are included in every module and participants work in their own dedicated training instance throughout both days of the course.

#4. Is this course suitable for beginners? 

No. This is an advanced course that assumes prior completion of Platform Analytics Fundamentals or equivalent experience. Learners new to Platform Analytics should start with the free Platform Analytics Overview and then complete Platform Analytics Fundamentals before enrolling in this course.
